
Steve is a graduate student at Bethany Lutheran College in their Clinical Mental Health Counseling program. He hold's a Master's of Divinity and a Master's of sacred theology from Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary. As a parish pastor, Steve has walked with people in the various stages of their lives especially in times of grief and suffering. Forthright and sincere, he seeks to find a space where people find hope and healing amid the hardships we face in life.

Chad is a graduate student therapist in training under the supervision of Dr. Joshua Mears. After two decades shaping careers and fostering talent in the corporate world, he felt a deeper calling—one that extended beyond professional development into personal healing, growth, and supporting individuals in their most vulnerable moments.
Now pursuing his master’s degree in Clinical Counseling at Bethel University, Chad is embracing a new chapter that integrates his understanding of human potential with evidence‑based therapeutic approaches. He helps clients explore the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors while developing practical skills to navigate life’s challenges.
Chad equips clients with emotional‑regulation and distress‑tolerance skills to manage daily stressors as well as moments of crisis. He is passionate about working with adults in both individual and couples therapy, offering a non‑judgmental, accepting environment where clients can integrate their faith, clarify their values, and take committed action toward meaningful goals.
Claire is a doctoral student in Clinical Psychology (PsyD) Program at Augsburg University and is under the supervision of Dr. Joshua Mears. Claire uses a trauma-informed, systems based, and holistic approach when working with clients. She has experience working with clients across the lifespan including those as young as 8 and up through later adulthood. Claire believes each person has their own developmental path and trajectory, which is reflected in her therapeutic style as she tailors care to each client and support them in a way that they feel most comfortable. Past experiences include working with depression, anxiety, life transitions, grief/loss, and trauma.
Jake is an in-training psychotherapist and psychometrician practicing under the supervision of Joshua T. Mears, PsyD, LP. Jake graduated from the University of Northwestern-St Paul in 2017 with a double major in psychology and biblical and theological studies. He studied at Augsburg University before transferring to the Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at Grand Canyon University in 2024. Jake has experience doing individual therapy with adults and older adolescents presenting with challenges such as depression, anxiety, trauma, adjustment disorders, and more. He also is part of the psychological testing team at The Soul’s Apothecary and is experienced in evaluating children, adolescents, and adults seeking evaluations for conditions such as ADHD and autism. He also has experience with completing actuarial risk psychosexual evaluations, as well as some experience with directing adolescents through diversionary sexual health programing. Jake tends to take a person-centered approach to clinical work and values creating a positive and supportive environment to help individuals meet their therapeutic goals and better understand themselves. He also welcomes the integration of faith into clinical work for those who are interested.

Kari is a psychometrician practicing under the supervision of Joshua T. Mears, PsyD, LP and Dr. Kaitlyn Kaus. Kari is part of the psychological testing team at The Soul’s Apothecary and administers testing to assist with evaluating children, adolescents, and adults seeking evaluations.

Jim Rice is an in-training psychotherapist under the supervision of Dr. Mears. Jim is currently completing his Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of Phoenix. He also holds a Master’s in Pastoral Ministry from the St. Paul Seminary and School of Divinity at the University of St. Thomas and a two-year certificate in Catechetics from the Archbishop Harry J. Flynn Catechetical Institute. Jim has worked with adolescents and young adults for many years in both urban and rural settings, providing guidance, mentorship, and pastoral support. As a husband and father of three adult children, he brings a grounded perspective to his work, shaped by the joys and challenges of family life. His experiences allow him to connect authentically with clients navigating relationships, transitions, and personal growth. Jim is passionate about creating a relaxed and genuine therapeutic space where clients feel seen, valued, and supported. His counseling style is practical and tailored to meet the client's needs. He seeks to help clients find meaning even in the midst of suffering, and for those who desire it, he thoughtfully integrates faith into the counseling process. His person-centered and trauma-informed approach fosters collaboration, resilience, and a meaningful therapeutic journey.

Christine Marmor Thompson is a clinical mental health counselor-in-training at Bethany Lutheran College, passionate about client-centered care and holistic well-being. She is interning at The Soul’s Apothecary under the supervision of Brenda Haugen. Christine brings extensive experience in theater direction, early childhood education, youth and family ministry, and community outreach, demonstrating skills in trauma-informed and faith-informed practice and collaborative leadership. She has worked with individuals and families across the lifespan and from a wide range of backgrounds and believes in creating a safe space for clients to navigate complexity and move toward healing. She integrates evidence-based strategies with genuine care and a strength-based approach to foster dignity, strength, and hope in every client interaction.

David Vollmers is a graduate student from Saint Mary’s Clinical Psychology program. David is under the supervision of Madeline Simonson, MS, LPCC, LADC. He has a Bachelor's degree in Drug and Alcohol Counseling and has been practicing in the field of substance abuse for three years. David has a passion for supporting families and individuals of all ages through life’s challenges with warmth and compassion. He believes in using evidence‑based therapeutic approaches to ensure quality and personalized care for all patients.
