Ministry Support Care Consultation at The Soul's Apothecary

  Ministry Support Care Consultation at The Soul’s Apothecary is a unique program that seeks to give specific short-term counsel to those serving in Christian ministry vocations. This program is different than traditional counseling and aims to help individuals and families feel better equipped to manage their own mental and spiritual health while serving others. The care consultant will help sort out mental health concerns, as well as to mentor, coach and walk along side the ministry worker. This program does not take the place of traditional counseling and the Care Consultant may provide a referral for clinical counseling if indicated. Depending on the insurance coverage of the client, licensing and other state regulations, a referral outside of The Soul’s Apothecary may be indicated.

Dr. Joshua Mears is the Clinical Director and owner of The Soul’s Apothecary. He has worked in the field of mental health for more than 15 years and specializes in psychological evaluations and child and adolescent mental health. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Mears has a passion for serving pastors, ministry leaders, missionaries, and their families as they navigate the unique emotional, relational, and spiritual burdens that often accompany life in ministry. He values creating an opportunity to strengthen those in ministry to boldly continue in their work in God’s Kingdom. Dr. Mears has completed extensive training in faith-informed counseling theory and seeks to provide a consultative soul care relationship that honors each client’s faith, values, and worldview. His approach integrates psychological insight with thoughtful respect for spiritual convictions. 

Sarah Reik is a Licensed Professional Counselor with over 26 years of experience. She specializes in helping individuals who are struggling with stress, life transitions, self-worth, relationship conflict, grief, and more. Sarah is also a lifelong WELS member and a pastor's daughter with a passion for helping called workers. Sarah helps people challenge internal lies with the truth of God's Word, and points them to the promises of God for comfort and hope in suffering.

Anita is an independent contractor with The Souls Apothecary and she specializes in adoption, family, couples, parenting, missionary/cultural transitions and college adjustments. Anita received her BA in Elementary Education from Concordia University, Chicago and her MS in Counseling from Minnesota State University, Mankato. She has over 40 years of teaching experience working with pre-school, elementary, adolescents, and college students. Anita has been a counselor for 20 years working with families in southern Minnesota and Iowa. She and her husband served for 3 years in Hong Kong working with Chinese and Asian people. Anita continues to help train and support people in mission work in many areas of the world. In addition to her clinical work, Anita has also served as an adjunct instructor at Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato, Minnesota.  In her spare time, Anita loves to craft with her grandchildren, bike, and garden

 Elizabeth is a licensed professional clinical counselor at The Soul’s Apothecary who enjoys working with adults for individual therapy, marriage therapy, family therapy and parent education. She has training in Prepare/enrich marital therapy, sexual health, trauma, and dialectic behavioral therapy. Elizabeth approaches therapy from an eclectic approach utilizing tools from both evidenced based practices and faith-informed approaches, that will best fit the client. Elizabeth wants to help the client find healing in their mind and soul.
